The Salford Music and Performing Arts Service (MAPAS) is part of Salford Community Leisure Limited and provides Music, Dance and Drama tuition in schools across Salford.

We also operate out of school arts centres that involve activities and ensembles in a range of genres for both children and adults.

MAPAS has always had strong partnership links with other services and organisations in particular the BBC Philharmonic.

We are a strategic partner in the Greater Manchester Music Hub with the responsibility for delivering the government’s policy on music education in partnership with schools and other organisations.

As a charity, we are always grateful for donations towards the vital work we do in the community. For more information about how you can contribute, please visit our support us page

Key areas of music development

  • 1st Access - how to start playing a musical instrument.
  • Pupil progression - how to get better at playing the instrument.
  • Ensembles - playing the instrument with others.
  • Singing - an essential part of making music for everyone.

Beyond the work in schools, we expand the opportunities for working with others from different age groups and parts of our community.
