Singing

high school pupils singing

Singing is a vital part of music making and something everyone can do. We advise and support  schools to help develop their choral work. In addition to this our team of vocal specialists deliver tuition to individuals, small groups and full choirs.

The MAPAS team also run choirs at our Arts Centre and these include our Junior Choir, Youth choir and community choir.

The Singing Squad is open to children of Primary School age from Yr 5 upwards. It is designed for children who love to sing, learn new song and make new friends!

The Youth choir perform at MAPAS events and are regularly invited to perform for others, such as City West Housing. They are a lively bunch of enthusiastic singers and are hoping to attract some Tenor and Bass voices to the group in the future.

The Community choir is an adult choir for which there is no audition - just a love of singing. A variety of genres of music are sung from Thomas Tallis Madrigals to modern day medleys. Men in particular are always very welcome - you can never have enough tenors and basses.

MAPAS also run the Eccles Library Choir which is open to adults with no audition.

Large scale performance opportunities play a key part in our singing strategy and plans are in place for the Salford Big Sing in June 2018.

For further details about this and all our singing please contact the MAPAS office on 0161 778 0256 or by email mapas@scll.co.uk

Our brand new Irlam & Cadishead Children’s Choir will be also launching in November 2017. It is an exciting new group aimed at children from 7-11 years. Pupils will get the opportunity to make new friends and have fun singing together in preparation for their first concert. Parents can relax in the café area or make use of the leisure centre facilities whilst they wait.

Please note that this session will be held at Irlam & Cadishead Leisure Centre.
