Embroidery works added to the Victorian Gallery at Salford Museum & Art Gallery

22nd August 2017

You might spot a new addition to the Victorian Gallery on your next visit to Salford Museum & Art Gallery.

For the sake of conservation we have taken down the watercolours from the Victorian Gallery to rest them, as long exposure to light can damage the works. In their place we have hung some intricate and detailed embroideries which were created in the 19th century. These pieces will be on display for around 3 months so you have plenty of time to come and see them and look at the range of techniques and materials used.

The Sampler is on show as part of the 'A History of Lancashire in 70 Objects' which will be happening at venues across Lancashire in the autumn. Funded by the Heritage Lottery Fund, the project is being run through Museum's Development North West and Lancashire Life Magazine.
