Emerging Freelance Artist Programme

Art About Town - Art Work created by participants

Salford Community Leisure’s Arts Development Service worked with 12 emerging Artists to deliver an exciting new range of 6 week art programmes, with something for all the family.  The activities were delivered by Salford-based emerging Artists who all took part in an artist development programme to help them take their career in participatory arts to the next level.

We have recently recruited seven Artists for our 2nd Programme which is for Emerging Creative Practitioners, more information about this opportunity can be found in the Supporting Artists and Arts Organisations section of our website.

Here's just a taster of some of the activities we ran as part of our very successful first programme:

Sketch by David LowtherArt About Town – Sketch, paint and create in Eccles
These sessions were aimed at people who wanted to refresh their skills or explore new fine art techniques.  The sessions were really well attended and we had some fantastic feedback from participants.

Creative Adventures – Artist led adventures for parents and toddlers
Participants enjoyed a fabulous six week adventure exploring the imaginary side of Salford.  The sessions involved spending quality time together, dressing up, puppet making and storytelling as well as affordable ideas for grown-ups to take away.

Created by Artists, Parents and Children at one of our Creative Adventures SessionsTear & Re-Wear – Up-cycling your old and unwanted clothes and accessories
Old clothes and accessories were given a second life in these sessions which shown why up-cycling is even better for the planet than recycling.  Artists, Jewellery and Fashion Designers were on hand to help participants make do and mend.
