Love Eccles Music Stage and Superhero Family Arts Event

Greater Manchester Arts logoThe Love Eccles Festival was a big hit this year and the funding helped us support this Town Centre Economic Development event and work with Libraries, MAPAS, The Lowry, Paines Plough and Eccles Town Team.  On Saturday 10th September an estimated three thousand visitors to Church Street enjoyed more than five hours of the best of MAPAS musical talent on the ‘Watch This Space Stage’ at Eccles Cross.  Steel pans, big band, rock band Unknown Refuge, sax quartet and choir brought music to our ears, before Cllr. Bellamy closed the show.  The steel pan quintet also performed in the Roundabout.

In Eccles Library 40 children and 30 adults became a super hero for the morning and imagined life with super powers, inspired by Roundabout play, ‘I Got Superpowers for my Birthday’.  Arts activities included a very special drama workshop by Paines Plough Director, Anna Himali-Howard, making masks and capes, decorating cuffs and sticker design, as well as face painting and lego, generating 175 participations.
