Little Hulton Cold Spots Project

The Arts Development Service have been working within the community of Little Hulton delivering a range of activities and events aimed for ages from 0-90 years.

The project has been funded by a grant from The Arts Council which has allowed us to deliver high quality arts with the aim of increasing engagement and participation in Little Hulton; which has been identified as having a low level of arts participation.

To date we have run the following:

Samba Music sessions facilitated by MAPAS and a drama workshop with The Lowry during the October half term in which 30 young people took part, aged 8-16 years.

Family creative writing workshops with Terry Caffrey at Little Hulton Library to link in with local SNAP week; those that came listened to Terry’s own poems and with Terry’s help created their own mini poetry book.

We have been running sessions with the Peel Park Art Group and have brought in artists Jane Dennerly, Tess Hills and Hazel Fenton from Ordsall Hall. The group have been working on producing work for an exhibition. The group meet every Wednesday from 10am - 12pm at Peel Park Pavilion, Little Hulton.

Mosaic produced by participants of the Cold Spots ProjectMosaic workshops at Joan Lester House; we have commissioned artist Mark Mennell to run drop in sessions at the home who is working with the group of woman to create a mosaic for the entrance hall and individual pieces that they can each keep.

The centre supports single homeless women with support needs, including those with alcohol, drug or mental health issues, and women escaping domestic violence.

MAPAS have been running new music sessions on a Monday evening at Bridgewater Youth Centre i Little Hulton from 5pm - 7pm and the group have been working towards a performance. The workshops are aimed at those in year 7 and over.
