MAPAS Arts Centre
The Arts Centre provides opportunities for children and adults from all areas of Salford to participate in a wide variety of ensembles, including bands, orchestras, choirs and theatre study groups of various standards. The groups perform regularly in community showcases and termly performances as well as at venues such as The Lowry at Salford Quays and The Bridgewater Hall.
The more senior groups get the opportunity to go on tours abroad and the junior groups attend residential weekends in order to work on set projects and to interact with the other performers from around the city.
How do I get involved?
On Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday evenings during school term time, we hold a variety of sessions at Arts Centres throughout the City. The different activities give young performers plenty of opportunities to show off their talents. Venues include Moorside High School, Future Skills at MediaCityUK, Co-op Academy Swinton, Irlam & Cadishead Leisure Centre and All Hallows RC High School. Members can attend as many groups as they wish, providing they reach the required entry standard.
We also provide music theory classes that are held once a week along with aural classes to help with exams (there may be additional charges for these sessions - please call our office for more details).
We have a variety of membership packages and you can pay upfront for the year or for the term, with an option for child membership to be paid each half term:
- Children - £60 per year or £25 per term
- Adults - £80 per year or £30 per term
We offer a whole spectrum of new opportunities for the performer, offering sound advice from a talented and highly qualified team of tutors. Membership is completely free of charge if your child is eligible for Free School Meals. All members must complete a registration form - see the copy attached to this page.
