Communities and Outreach
Arts and Communities Programme
Ordsall Hall works in partnership with communities, groups, societies and organisations throughout Salford on a variety of creative workshops and participatory projects.
The Arts and Communities programme develops and delivers a range of projects inspired by the Hall and its surrounding areas. We work with a diverse range of community groups, including young people, adult groups and schools, to bring the Hall to life whilst also develop individuals' personal skills and knowledge. Through activities we aim to inspire participants creatively about the heritage and culture of Salford past and present.
Activities include art projects, workshops and courses, talks and slideshows. If you belong to a community group or organisation in Salford and would like to find out more, or arrange a workshop, course or talk, please contact Ordsall Hall on 0161 872 0251 or email email@example.com.
Workshops and courses
We offer a range of outreach workshops and courses for community groups across the city. Activities are designed to be hands on for participants and all take their inspiration from the rich heritage and culture of the Hall.
A series of 2 hour craft sessions that can be led as a short course over a number of weeks, or as one off activities.
Each workshop introduces a group to having a go at a heritage craft inspired by the exhibits and heritage of the Hall. Activities includes; Adhesive Stained Glass, Rag Rugging and Felt Making.
People of all ages have dressed to impress, from 800 years ago through to today fashion has been a talking point. Over 5 sessions we explore the fashions of the heyday of Ordsall Hall and how they are similar to today. Participants share ideas and have a go at making their own accessories.
Over 6 sessions participants discover how to write a ghost story based on images and objects from Ordsall Hall and individuals own life experiences. People's short stories are then incorporated into their own handmade origami books to take home. No previous writing experience necessary.
We are very keen for ESOL tutors and students to use the Hall and its history to develop their language skills and share their experiences. We have a variety of resources including self guided visit activities and outreach sessions.
If you are part of a group or organisation in the city and would like to find out more about activities, please call 0161 872 0251 or email firstname.lastname@example.org.
