Yoga as part of Minds at the Museum series of wellness events now available at Salford Museum & Art Gallery
Salford Community Leisure, which run the eight leisure centres across Salford, has just announced new yoga sessions at Salford Museum and Art Gallery from 14 January at 10am (running weekly until 18 February).
Yoga is an ancient form of exercise that focuses on strength, flexibility and breathing to improve physical and mental wellbeing. The main elements of yoga are through postures (a series of movements designed to increase strength and flexibility) and breathing.
The practice originated in India about 5,000 years ago and is now commonplace in leisure centres, health clubs, schools, hospitals and surgeries around the world.
Salford Museum and Art Gallery provides a creative and relaxing space for people interested in yoga and a change from the usual leisure centre environment.
Participants will get to surround themselves in the peace and serenity of the gallery collections while expert instructor Lynn Boardman guides the class through the practice of yoga. Perfect for all levels from beginner to expert, every Monday morning Salford Community Leisure invites participants to a unique setting to take time out of busy schedules.
Mats and blocks included, but it is advisable to bring your own equipment.
The cost of a yoga session is £6 or £30 for a block of 6 sessions.
Pay and display parking (coins only) is available outside the museum. An overflow car park is available at the University of Salford’s Irwell Place car park, which is pay and display or pay by phone.
