CAN-Move is an innovative exercise referral programme specifically designed for Salford people who have been diagnosed and are undergoing cancer treatments for all cancer types.

Evidence shows that being active at the recommended levels and maintaining a healthy weight can reduce the risk of progression or return of some cancers.

Recent studies have shown that a minimum of three hours of moderate exercise each week reduces the risk of breast and bowel cancers returning and lowers the risk of early prostate cancers developing.

All GP practices, nurses and health practices can refer you into the scheme.

A FREE 12 week tailored exercise programme and one to one support, CAN-Move is delivered by exercise specialists from the Active Lifestyles Team working together with clinical nurse specialists from Salford Royal Hospital and local GP practices.

The programme includes an 8 week pass for low intensity circuit based exercise classes and supervised gym sessions at local Salford Leisure Centres. There is also the opportunity to try dance classes, health walks, cycling and many more activities.
