Non-Diabetic Hyperglycaemia (NDH)
Did you know that 3.2m adults in the UK live with diabetes?
Risk factors are high in people with Non-Diabetic Hyperglycaemia (NDH), a condition where blood glucose levels are raised but not to the threshold of type 2 diabetes.
In Salford, health partners are working hard to reduce the number of people developing Type 2 diabetes.
GPs and the Diabetes Care Call Team refer people to the Active Lifestyles Team, who run a FREE 8 week personalised exercise programme. Activities include supervised gym sessions, swimming, exercise classes and many other session; which are specifically designed for people that have been diagnosed with NDH.
Samantha Chesters, an Active Lifestyles Trainer said:
"When Alan joined the NDH programme he used the gym every week following the course I gave him. In 8 weeks, Alan lost 8kg in weight and regained his confidence in exercising - in his words he felt "proper chuffed". Alan has continued using the gym either with one of his sons or on his own, plus he is undertaking a 10km walk this month to raise money for Alzheimer's."
