Not a member yet? You do not have to be a member of the library to browse the books and attend our activities but there are great benefits to becoming a library member. Why not visit your local library to find out what’s on offer?

Joining the library is FREE! Simply pop into any Salford Library and fill in a joining form for your child.

Library Cards

There are lots of incredible books to borrow and online services which you can use.

  • Picture books and board books for babies and toddlers
  • Information books suitable for homework and leisure
  • Comics
  • General fiction
  • Books for children learning to read and newly confident readers
  • Books suitable for children with dyslexia and reluctant readers
  • E-books, e-audiobooks and e-press through the BorrowBox service

Borrowing

Children can borrow up to 10 books for 3 weeks and up to 6 e-audiobooks and 6 e-books using the BorrowBox service. There are no charges on late or damaged books but please encourage your children to look after their books and return them when they have read them.

Books can be returned to any library in Salford.

Homework

As well as a great collection of information books, children can also access other online resources to help them do their research.

Printing and photocopying is available at all libraries (excluding Hope) for a small charge.

Online services can be accessed both at home and in the library for FREE! To log-in use the 8 digit borrower number written on the library card.

Computers

Computers can be used for FREE and there are iPads now available in some libraries. Printing and photocopying is available for a small charge.

Children must have signed permission by a parent/carer to use the computers. Please see Section 2 of the joining form.

School and Group Visits

Teachers, why not book a class visit to the library for your pupils? If you’re a Brownie/Guide or Cub/Scout Leader, email your local library to book a visit for your group.
