It's the Whit Holidays, and once again, we've got some great ideas to keep the children entertained all week long!

There's the chance for them to get active at our fun sport camps, enjoy Tudor and Victorian activities at our museums or add some excitement to the holidays and come along to our Open Hire sessions at Helly Hansen Watersports Centre.

Sport and Performing Arts Camp (Ambrose Barlow)

Tuesday 28 to Thursday 30 May, 10.00am - 3.00pm, Sr Ambrose Barlow High School
£15 to £20 per day, suitable for ages 5-12 years, booking required

The BEST Holiday Camp in the city is back for the Whit holidays!

Come and join our team of experienced tutors and specialist coaches in a variety of workshops and coaching sessions including dance, drama, music and sport. Children can learn new skills, be creative and most of all have fun!

Certificate of achievement and medal will be awarded to every child.

Offsite activities will also be available to swimming for children 8 years and over. Under 16’s must be accompanied by an adult.

This camp runs from Tuesday 28 to Thursday 30 May from:

  • 8.00am - 6.00pm - £20 per day
  • 9.00am - 3.30pm - £15 per day

Our early start, late finish option (8am - 6pm) gives parents more flexibility and children more fun!

Children are required to bring a packed lunch each day. Light breakfast and afternoon snacks will be provided for children attending the 8am-6pm camp. Appropriate clothing needs to be worn to take part in physical activity including trainers and an outdoor jacket.

Get to know the museum and its collection by buying one of our gallery trails. You also receive a pack of colouring pencils and a sticker!

Toys Through Time

Come and have a go with our traditional toys from the past. See how they have changed over the years and how they compare to toys children play with in modern times. Not a touch screen in sight! Take home a make-it-yourself toy kit.

Washday Wednesday

FREE, drop-in, no booking required

What is a posser? How was a donkey stone used? Come down to Lark Hill Place for a chat and a demonstration about how the residents of Lark Hill Place would have done their laundry and find out the answer to these questions and more!

Find out about the inhabitants of Lark Hill Place from Victorian times onwards! Every session will feature objects from a selection of time periods giving you the chance to marvel over how things change over the years!

Perfect if you want to practice your skills or just have some fun. They provide an excellent opportunity to get out on the water either on your own or with your friends. You will be supervised by our fully qualified staff who will be out on the water in safety boats or kayaks.

Open Hire sessions available during the centre opening hours:

  • Monday to Thursday - 9:00am to 5.00pm
  • Friday - 9:00am to 4:00pm
  • Saturday - 9:00am - 5:00pm
  • Sunday - 9:00am to 4:00pm

Join in with a variety of activities including multi-sports and arts and crafts at the Co-Op Academy, Walkden (formally Walkden High School).
